Maldon Escape Rooms

Maldon Escape Rooms is most of the upper floor of the Edward’s Walk Shopping Arcade in Maldon, Essex.

This page is about the venue; if you want to book and play the games, go straight to the Maldon Escape Rooms website.

The venue is a corporate owned Know Escape venue operated by head office with a manager and games master team.

Maldon has a population of around 15,000 people and is very close to Chelmsford, the home of the first Know Escape venue. We took the Maldon premises because of the opportunity to run bigger games within easy travelling distance for our existing Chelmsford players.

On average, the Maldon experiences are three times larger than the Chelmsford games.

Maldon is also home to the original Rob the Bank game, a vast escape room in which teams start in the back of a transit van and are reversed through the bank wall; teams have one hour to find the gold, get back to the truck and escape. The game is widely recognised as one of the funniest escape rooms in the UK, and customers have travelled from Australia to play it.

Rob the Bank is now in operation across the UK, there are clones of the game in Chesterfield, Bishop’s Stortford, Kingston upon Thames and Gatwick.

We continue to pioneer new escape game formats at the location, making use of the vast spaces available.

Tripadvisor Travellers Choice

There are hundreds of five-star reviews for Maldon Escape Rooms on Tripadvisor, including this one:
“My friend and I thought we’d go a little bit farther out than our last couple of escape rooms to try somewhere new and Maldon did phenomenally. The set up was interesting, our GM Luke and the other staff were all great and obviously loved their jobs, plus they did a brilliant job of creating an interesting environment to escape. We did the Cage, and had a great laugh during the whole thing with the occasional scream too. At some point we’ll need to come back for one of the other scenarios.” Go to Review.

Competition

Maldon has no competition within the town.

The Escape Network previously hosted pop-up games on Wednesday evenings in Maldon Museum; the games were closed before the pandemic and Know Escape bought The Escape Network off of Cowen Edutainment Ltd; the games are currently archived.
