Chesterfield Escape Rooms

Chesterfield Escape Rooms became the third franchise in the Know Escape network opening in May 2021. The venue is the UK’s Number 1 Escape Room Attraction, ranked by TripAdvisor.

This page is about the venue; if you want to book and play the games, go straight to the Chesterfield Escape Rooms website.

Chesterfield is a big market town with a population of around 85,000; the city is 11 miles south of Sheffield and the second largest settlement in Derbyshire.

The venue is based in a former hair salon and uses every inch of the space to run the most popular escape room franchise games offered by Know Escape.

Annie and Nick are exceptional owners, working hard to ensure the business is achieving excellent customer service for the customers.

Construction

The venue was wholly refitted, a new roof was put on, and the premises were stripped back to brick and entirely refurbished to an excellent standard.

Before construction, the Know Escape team visited the site and planned each space to make maximum use of the square footage.

The original games were built onsite by Chesterfield Escape Rooms’ preferred local supplier under the guidance of the plans drawn up by the team from Know Escape Franchise.

Reputation

Within six months of opening Chesterfield Escape Rooms had become the number one Escape Room in the UK as voted by travellers on TripAdvisor.

This is a phenomenal achievement; there are 833 Escape Rooms companies on TripAdvisor so getting to number one was no easy task.

There is no question that success is due to the leadership and decisions the franchise owners make and their ability to listen, learn and question everything.

Nick and Annie did a complete and thorough evaluation of franchises available and picked Know Escape as a partner; as part of the research, they visited Know Escape sites, spoke to other companies and franchise owners, reviewed customer feedback, followed the advice and made good decisions about what games would work best for the local market.

They sourced excellent premises near a car park in the centre of a big town, invested in advertising, made lots of noise on social media and took every opportunity to draw attention to the business.

Once the franchise agreement was signed, Know Escape helped plan rooms and provided prop lists, game plans and guides on what to do and how to do it. The Chesterfield Escape Rooms team exceeded every expectation and dealt with every challenge head-on professionally and executed perfectly.

Once recruitment was complete, the newly employed team were driven hundreds of miles for training at Know Escape venues around the country to ensure every single game would be run brilliantly and consistently, and it is.

Here is a two-and-a-half-minute video showing Chesterfield Escape Rooms location and how it is the UK’s Number 1 Escape Room, as ranked by site reviews:

As a franchise provider, we often get asked how it feels to have a franchise with a better national reputation than our corporate branches; the answer we give is profound pride; we are delighted that the Chesterfield Escape Rooms team have taken our concept, listened, and made it better, they have the added advantage of avoiding all the common mistakes our branches made too.

Competition

Chesterfield Escape Rooms has relatively little competition locally; there are five companies in Sheffield, two franchises, and one independent escape room company in Matlock.

Chesterfield Escape Rooms has the highest local ranking.
